Getting Started
Follow these steps to get started with the ADMCF326 Developers Tool Kit:
1.) Read through the
ADMCF32X Processor Board User’s Manual
and the
ADMC Connector
Board User’s Manual
included in your kit
2.) Connect the processor board to a regulated +5 Vdc power supply (+5V and GND)
3.) Connect the serial cable from a COM port on your PC to the 9-pin UART connector on the
processor board. Take note of which COM port you are using on your PC. When you run the
debugger you will be required to enter which COM port you are using. The default for the
software is COM1.
4.) Read the
Motion Control Development Tools Release Notes
and follow the instructions listed
to install the development software on your PC.
5.) Follow the steps listed in the “Getting Started with the Motion Control Debugger,” found in the
ADMCF32X Developer’s Reference Manual
to get the software running on your processor
board. If you receive a communication error message from the debugger when you start it, press
the H/W reset button and then click "Retry". If the problem persists check that the jumpers on
the processor board are correctly configured. Check that another application is not using the
COM port that you have connected to the processor board. Also, follow the “Troubleshooting”
section in the
ADMCF32X Developer’s Reference Manual
.
6.) Once you have successfully started the Motion Control Debugger Software on your processor
board, you are ready to begin working with the ADMCF326. Follow the “Tutorial” section found
in the
ADMCF32X Developer’s Reference Manual
to assemble, link, and run the example
programs on the processor board. You can also use example programs from the Analog Devices
Motor Control website to create your own application code.
